No clean chit to Punjab SP Salwinder Singh, probe still on: IG NIA

CHANDIGARH: Reacting on the news published in a section of media that Punjab Police SP Salwinder Singh, who underwent polygraph test, was given clean chit, National Investigation Agency (NIA) today ruled out any such clean chit and revealed ‘probe is still on’.
“We have not given any clean chit to SP as the probe is still on to take it to its logical conclusion”, said Inespector General of National Investigative Agency (NIA) Sanjeev Kumar Singh.IG Singh clarified that it is yet to give a clean chit to senior Punjab Police officer Salwinder Singh, who is being investigated in connection with the Pathankot terror attack. It is pertinent to mention here that earlier news agencies had reported that Salwinder Singh had been given a clean chit by the NIA.
The investigative agency will conduct polygraph tests on Salwinder Singh’s jeweller friend, cook and shrine caretaker next week, sources said adding that the NIA will take a final call on giving a clean chit to Salwinder Singh only after polygraph tests on these three people, sources told.Singh, an SP-rank officer who has been coming to the NIA headquarters for the last fortnight, was subjected to several rounds of questioning, in addition to scientific tests including a lie-detector test.Raids at various places, including SP’s native place in Amritsar, yielded nothing and documents recovered showed nothing incriminating against him, official sources said.
