Rumours of Navjot Sidhu and wife joining AAP fly high in Punjab

CHANDIGARH: The social media is flooded with the posts of former Amritsar MP and BJP leader Navlot Sidhu and his MLA wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu joining Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Sidhu couple is sidelined by ruling SAD and BJP alliance. Speculations that Sidhu couple may join AAP had been rife for quite long now.
The rumour mill was busy for the last few months Navjot Sidhu might be AAP choice for taking over command of party in Punjab for 2017 assembly elections. The different surveys have shown AAP is in winning position in the state but it has no face for leading the party at critical juncture. Navjot Sidhu MLA is quite vocal against Badal family and blamed them for all the ills in Punjab.
A report from Delhi said that Arvind Kejriwal calls emergency meeting of Punjab think tank for today evening in New Delhi. However it is not clear if AAP meeting is called to discuss Sidhu issue.
Uttam Hindu has reproted that Delhi CM and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal has called an ’emergent meeting’ of his “think tank”, primarily active in Punjab, for today evening. Those called for the meeting include all the 13 zonal incharges from Punjab, besides seven conveners & co-conveners. The message to the AAP top brass of Punjab was sent yesterday late night following which all of them have reached New Delhi. Ashish Khetan, Sanjay Singh and Durgesh Pathak too have reached there.
What is politically interesting is that since morning, BJP Chief Parliamentary Secretary Navjot Kaur Sidhu had put two FB posts, one stating that she had resigned from BJP and another criticizing the Badal government. Is there any connection between Navjot’s posts and AAP meeting would only be clear by late evening. Ever since the 2014 parliamentary elections, the three time MP and senior party leader Navjot Singh Sidhu is “silent” on account of his differences with the SAD & BJP top brass.
