CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today administered the oath to six newsly appointed Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, all MLAs-four from SAD and two from BJP. The seventh MLA Pargat Singh from Jalandhar Cantt who was appointed CPC however stayed away from the oath taking ceremony.
Those adminsitered the oath included Gurtej Singh Ghuriana, Manjit Singh Mianwind, Darshan Singh Shivalik, Gurpartap Singh Wadala, Sukhjeet Kaur Sahi and Seema Kumari.
Pargat Singh, former Indian Hockey skipper has refused to accept the appointment as he felt let down by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal. He understood to have expressed his displeasure over the manner he was treated in the party. He had conveyed his concerns to Sukhbir Singh Badal in a meeting with him on April 17 last.
The Chief Minister had also dropped Inderbir Singh Bularia from the post of CPC due to running feud with Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia. Bularia and Pargat Singh both are not attending functions of Dukhbir Singh Badal.It is understood that Badal had appointed new CPCs to prevent rebelion from party MLAs as there were reports some of them were ready to join either Congress or AAP.
