Rocky’s sister Rajbeer Kaur to don political mantle

Fazilka : Rajbeer Kaur (44), elder sister of slain gangster-turned-politician Jaswinder Singh Bhullar (alias Rocky), will don social and political mantle of her brother. This was announced by Rocky’s close associate Amzad Khan of Malerkotla at his “antim ardas” today. The decision was endorsed by a large gathering present on this occasion.
Rajbeer will coordinate with his supporters and apparently contest the forthcoming Assembly elections.
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MP from Ferozepur Sher Singh Ghubaya, former Congress minister Hans Raj Josan, Guruharsahai (Ferozepur) SAD leader Nardev Singh were among those present on the occasion.
Veteran Akali leader Gurjant Singh Chimnewala conducted the condolence meeting at the sprawling four-acre lawn of City Garden Palace. A massive crowd was present on the occasion.
Although no representative of any mainstream political party made any speech on the occasion, Ghubaya told The Tribune that he had come to attend the programme because Rocky lent him support during the 2014 parliamentary elections. He had come to attend Rocky’s last rites in his personal capacity, he added.
Former Congress minister Josan said Rocky’s native village Jhugian Kehar Singh fell in the Jalalabad Assembly constituency from where he had been contesting elections for over three decades. He was present at the programme out of his social duty, he said. Rocky was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Parwanoo around 10 am on Saturday. The assailants fled soon after the firing. One gunman also sustained grievous injuries. Sources claim Rocky was travelling in Toyota Fortuner vehicle when some armed attackers shot him.
