SAD says Amarinder destroyed the sugarcane industry as CM by closing down 5 co-operative mills

Chandigarh : The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said Punjab Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh had destroyed the sugarcane industry in Punjab during his tenure as chief minister and that he should not enact public dramas now to befool the people.In a statement here, party spokesman Dr Daljit Singh Cheema told Amarinder “better for you to control your leaders who made a public spectacle of themselves by fighting against each other to such an extent at the dharna site that the matter has reached the police station”.Dr Cheema said a leader who could not control his underlings like Sukhjinder Randhawa who had let loose abuses and slaps on the Sewa Dal President of Pathankot district should not even think of ruling Punjab.Dr Cheema said the truth of the matter was that during Amarinder Singh’s tenure as chief minister he had closed down five cooperative sugar mills which acted as a death knell for the farming community in Punjab. The SAD leader said Amarinder had also stopped free power facility to farmers and imposed tube well bills on the beleaguered farming community. Describing Captain Amarinder’s dharna at Paniar sugar mill (Dina nagar, Gurdaspur) today as a mere farce to befool the farmers of state, the SAD leader said such dramas would not serve any purpose. “It is better you spell out a single pro farmer step taken by you during your tenure as chief minister rather than indulging in such phoney dharnas “, Dr Cheema added. Advising Captain Amarinder to first control the rocking boat of his own party, Dr. Cheema said Captain’s own party leaders and legislators were raising the banner of revolt and were not ready to campaign as per the commands of the former Maharaja. “Please save your party from ruin first. Your leaders are leaving you in droves both nationally and in Punjab. You are finding it difficult to collect even a few hundred people at your meetings because even your workers have deserted you. This happens when your remain inaccessible and out of touch from the masses. The people know you have come down from your hill resort in Narkanda because you are smelling power and otherwise have no interest in them. That’s why they are shunning you and your party”, Dr Cheema added.
