JALANDHAR : Special Task Force (STF) today achieved success in arresting as many as seven gangsters of dreaded Gopi Gang with recovery of huge quantity of arms & ammunition from their possession.Acting on a specific information STF laid a special barrier on Jalandhar-Kapurthala road and intercepted two cars, Assistant Inspector General (AIG) HPS Khak said adding that when signalled to stop, occupants of the cara speeded up their vehicle and after a brief chase they were overpowered.
All the occupants of the car identified as Gjrdeep Singh alias Bhinda, Jaswant Singh alias Jassa, Sandeep Kumar alias Lal, Kuldeep Singh, Mukul Kumar, Mandeep Kumar and Rakesh Kumar, Khak said.Two pistols with live rounds, two rifles and 600 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession from arrested gangsters, Khak said adding that the gang was operational for supplying drugs in several different districts of the state.The Gopi gang was associated with Goru Bacha gang of district Ludhiana and indulged in several incidents of crime in different districts, Khak added.During preliminary interrogation, the accused revealed that they bought the weapons from Shaamli village in Karnal district of Haryana and cash of Rs eight lakh was also recovered from them.
