Akali Dal should not play with fire in Punjab: Channi

GURDASPUR: The Congress Legislature Party chief Mr Charanjit Singh Channi today warned both the ruling Akali Dal-BJP combine Party against playing with fire in Punjab as the people in the state had earlier suffered for more than a decade and they could not afford yet another turbulence. He expressed the apprehension that any effort to ignite communal tension would prove to be disastrous. S Channi was speaking on the occasion of workers meeting of the Dera Baba Nanak constituency organized by S Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa MLA.
Reacting to the “revelations” in the case of sacrilege of Quran in which three persons have been arrested including from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad that is part of the Sangh Parivar, he said it was shocking that one of the accused Vijay Kumar had named Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Mehrauli Naresh Yadav as the main conspirator. Sangrur Senior Superintendent of Police Pritpal Singh Thind saying that Yadav would be summoned as part of investigation, has disclosed this.
“It is a very serious charge. In case it is part of the conspiracy to malign AAP, this can have very serious consequences, as this is dangerous politics. Now it is the responsibility of the Akali Dal-BJP government to bring out the facts before the people as from the VHP, the blame has suddenly been shifted to AAP. In case AAP MLA is really involved, then it exposes as to what extent this party can go to grab power”, he added. The CLP chief called upon the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal to clarify the situation as otherwise, he would personally be responsible in case the situation takes some dangerous turn. Moreover, none should know it better than Mr Badal as it was his party that fanned communalism in Punjab by providing legitimacy to the politics of violence through a resolution adopted in August 1980.
