CHANDIGARH : Harmel Singh Tohra former minister and son-in-law of ‘Taksali Akali leader’, former SGPC president late Gurcharan Singh Tohra has accused Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal of selling party ticket for 2017 assembly elections. He also said that only motive of Sukhbir Badal is to loot Punjab. These serious allewgations were levelled by Tohra family against Sukhbir Badal after the latter refused to allot party ticket to Kuldip Kaur daughter of Gurcharan Singh Tohra. She was earlier removed from the post of Halqa incharge of Patriala(rural) assembly seat. She was replaced by Satbir Singh Khatra son of DIG Punjab Police Ranbir Singh Khatra, a confident of Badal family. Satbir Khatra was allegedly planted as rebel Akali candidate by Sukhbir Badal against Kuldip Kaur in 2012 to ensure her defeat. Distressed Harmel Singh Tohra in a press conference at Patiala yesterday said that he had met Sukhbir Badal who told him not to stake claim for the party ticket since he (Tohra) didn’t have enough money to contest the election. He alleged that Sukhbir Badal was selling party tickets and not interested to field honest candiates. He said that Akali Dal had deviated from its principle duty of serving and promoting Panth and now sole motive is to grab power. He alleged that Sukhbir Badal has only moto of looting Punjab by befooling people and making false promises with them. He alleged that Sukhbir has mindset of grabbing money and using the ill gotten money to purchase votes.
Harmel Tohra said that SAD would face the consequences of ignoring loyal and sincere Akali workers in the coming elections. He said that he would highlight the wrong doings of Sukhbir Badal in the coming months. He said that supporters of Tohra spread all over Punjab would not forgive Sukhbir Badal.
