Chandigarh, Sept 2 : Sending major shockwaves in the political circles of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu seems to have ducked the idea of joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Local media sources claim that Sidhu has joined a new political outfit Awaz-e-Punjab, which rumoured to be formed since the past few months by expelled Congress leader Jagmit Singh Brar. The party is expected to be launched on September 9. Sidhu could most likely be projected as the chief ministerial candidate of the party.
As per news agency ANI, the new front Awaz-e-Punjab would name Navjot Singh Sidhu as one of its founding members. Among other major names who have joined the outfit includes current legislators Simarjit Singh Bains, Balwinder Singh Bains and Pargat Singh. While the Bains brothers were independent candidates who were leaning towards AAP, Pargat Singh was recently expelled from Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on charges of indulging in anti-party activities. All the four leaders were seriously mulling the idea of joining AAP. However, pollsters claim they changed their decision after it was indicated that AAP would not accommodate their demands.
