CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today ruled out an political alliance with other parties in 2017 assembly elections and said that Congress would only allow merger of genuine parties. He also said that Navjot Singh Sidhu who floated Awaaz-e-Punjab front and his MLA wife are not welcome in Congrtess party.Addressing a press conference here at Congress Bhawan, Capt Amarinder Singh even ruled out merger of Awaaz-e-Punjab and Apna Punjab Party(APP) floated by Sucha Singh Chhotepur. He said that only Pargat Singh SAD MLA from Jalandhar cantt is welcome to join Congress party while Sidhu couple has no place in the party. He said that Congress would not accept ‘indesciplined’ people like Sidhu who has no political stand and no interest of Punjab.
He said that Congress would welcome merger of any serious party interested for it and pointed out earlier also the People’s Party of Punjab and the Shiromani Akali Dal-Longowal also merged into the Congress without any conditions. He said that in India everybody is free to make its party but we will go by the merit. Capt Amarinder Singh rejected the claim by Navjot Sidhu that he was holding talks with Congress high command. He said that it was bundle of lies as AICC President Sonia Gandhi is not meeting anyone and party Vice President Rahul Gandhi has just returned from UP tour. He said that had there be any talks, he would have been sounded.
