Navjot Sidhu may dump Congress, meets AAP leaders for rethinking

CHANDIGARH: Former BJP leader, the Rajya Sabha member Navjot Singh Sidhu who was expected to join Congress party is reportedly bargaining with the AAP leadership to join AAP. Both Congress and AAP have high stakes in Punjab assembly poll and Sidhu is seen as star campaigner and big support by them. It is learnt that Sidhu last night met AAP leader and incharge of Punjab affairs Durgesh Pathak for an hour and expressed his desire to join AAP. Earlier reprots had suggested that his deal with the Congress party is final and he would join Congress before Diwali. The sudden change of course by Sidhu has surprised many in Punjab. Sidhu had formed Awaaz-e-Punjab front with three other MLAs Sinarjit Singh Bains, Balwinder Singh Bains(both Ludhiana) and Pargat Singh SAD MLA from Jalandhar
Cantt. Sidhu had changed his mind many times in a bid to get best deal for him and his associates. His wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu is also BJP MLA from Amritsar who recently resigned from, BJP. The Sidhu couple had kept all other guesing on his political stand and he seems losing his credibility in the public eye for not sticking to one ideology. Though he had never personally went on record to show his inclination towards any aprty but it is widely belived that he is barganing with Congress and AAP.
There were reports that Congress party had promised him post of Deputy Chief Minister if Congress comes to Power. According to another report Sidhu was offered Amritsar Lok Sabha seat and cabinet birth for his wife in the Congress government. He had also met AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal before starting dialogue with Congress and wanted to specify his role and status in the aprty. Kejriwal had reportedly told him to join and not to contest but promsied ticket for his wife. Sidhu understood to have an idea that he would be projected as Chief Minister’s candidate. AAP however was not keen to accept his terms.
