Job scam: Mohali court refuses relief to Tota Singh

Mohali : Dashing Agriculture Minister Tota Singh’s hopes to get off the hook in a criminal case ahead of the Assembly elections, a Mohali special court today rejected the public prosecutor’s application seeking withdrawal of the case.
The SAD leader, along with five others, has not only been chargesheeted, but charges have been framed against them in an alleged scam pertaining to the recruitment of 134 clerks by the Punjab School Education Board during 2000 and 2001 when Singh was the Education Minister in Punjab.
This is the second time that such an application by the prosecution had been turned down by the special court.
Special Judge Puneet Mohan Sharma rejected the application and fixed November 30 as the next date of hearing to resume the trial against Singh along with five other accused in the case.
On October 5, the public prosecutor had concluded that prosecution against Tota Singh was not well founded and it would be in public interest to withdraw this case against him.
