Sukhbir Badal and Capt Amarinder Singh trading MLAs in ‘secret pact’ to keep power within themselves: PDP

CHANDIGARH : Punjab Democratic Party(PDP) has alleged that Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and PPCC president Capt Amarinder Singh are in agreement to ‘trade’ MLAs for mutual political gains and to retain power within themselves. Commenting on the shifting of loyalty by half a dozen sitting MLA from SAD to Congress, PDP President Er.Gurkirpal Singh in a statement said that the phenomena was not in the interest of Punjab and people must understand the ‘secret pact’ between the two parties. Horse trading by two leading political parties amounts to rigging the democracy he said.
Er.Gurkirpal Singh said that not only SAD and Congress, the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) is also adopting similar power politics and absorbing ‘garbage’ of other parties. He said that AAP had failed to provide an alternative to traditional political aprties. He said that former BJP MP Navjot Sidhu has made mockery of democracy by bargaining for position for him and his wife. He added that Sidhu and half a dozen Akali Dal MLAs who have joined Congress had back stabbed the people of Punjab. These leaders and their parties have no ideology of their own.
PDP President said that Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal had earlier borrowed three MLAs from Congress party to attain full majority in the state assembly to keep its alliance partner BJP under check. Capt Amarinder Singh had extended support to Mr. Sukhbir Badal by allowing three of his close confidents, sitting MLAs Joginder Pal Jain(Moga), Jeet Mohinder Singh Talwandi Sabo and Arvind Khanna(Dhuri) to join SAD. All the three were re-elected from same assembly segments on SAD ticket. He said that Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal was fearing BJP for withdrawing support on drug issue but he survived with the support of Capt Amarinder Singh.
Er.Gurkirpal Singh said that intelligence agencies have given report to the government on strong anti-incumbency undercurrent and no chance of SAD returning to power. It is in this context that SAD MLAs were joining the Congress to strengthen its hands to grab power. He said that SAD would be fielding weak candidates against its turncoats so that sitting SAD MLAs can win on Congress tickets.
