Virat Kohli vs Ravichandran Ashwin: Who will be the better limited over captain?

New Delhi : Indian limited over Captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni gave up the captaincy of limited over team on Wednesday.  As India’s most successful limited over captain took a call on his captaincy, the most coveted position of Indian limited team has become vacant. This is a million dollar question who will be the next captain of the limited over team. Test captain Virat Kohli is a popular choice, but India’s leading bowler Ravichandran Ashwin is also knocking at the door for a prestigious position. Kohli had an outstanding season in 2016 as he won three series. The first series was played in West Indies which India won by a 2-0 margin, in the second series, Virat Kohli’s India whitewashed New Zealand at home in three-match series. In the third and final series, India humiliated England in the five-Test series as India won the series by a 4-0 margin. Captain Virat scored 655 runs at an average of 109 with two hundred. However, alongside Virat Kohli another Indian cricketer has been consistently performing for India. Ravichandran Ashwin has taken 28 wickets in the English series.
Indian all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin over the years has become the Indian bowling spearhead. If Virat Kohli makes his hefty contribution with the bat, his bowling helps India to take 20 wickets. Ashwin also has an outstanding a year in 2016 as he grabbed 72 wickets in 12 matches. With the willow in hand, he also scored 612 runs at an average of 43 in 14 innings. Per performance in 2015 and 2016 helped him to bag the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year and ICC Cricketer of the Year. He became the first Indian bowler and second Indian cricketer after Rahul Dravid to win both of the awards.  The aggressive allrounder has led the bowling department across the formats with excellence. He loves to lead his department. He doesn’t wait for his captain’s directives; he set his own fielding as per his requirement. At the same time, with the bat in hand, the Indian all-rounder on many occasions pulled India out of the danger zone. He has a knack of batting with the lower order, a difficult job for any middle order batsman. But Ashwin has scored two hundred in 2016 while batting with the lower order.
