Chandigarh : Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, which will be followed by his meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, according to well-placed sources. The Punjab CM’s meetings with the PM and HM will be subsequent to the administrative-level meetings of Punjab and Haryana officials with the Union Secretary for Water Resources about the implementation of the Supreme Court’s order on sharing of waters between the two states.T he construction of SYL automatically takes centrestage during the discussion on sharing of waters. A host of issues other than water-sharing would be raised by Amarinder, who has already arrived in Delhi. With regard to sharing of waters, Punjab’s contention is that the rivers had shrunk and the underground water table had depleted. Its case is that it was already facing a water crisis and was not in a position to share it with Haryana.
