New Delhi, June 7 : Presidential elections will be held on July 17, the Election Commission of India announced on Wednesday.Announcing the schedule for elections, the commission said that it wanted the voting process to be completed before the incumbent President, Pranab Mukherjee, completes his tenure on July 24.
Votes will be counted on July 20.
The commission also warned parties against issuing whips regarding the elections.
Election will take place through secret ballot.
Important dates
Date of EC notification: June 14.
Last date of nomination: June 28.
Scrutiny: June 29.
Withdrawing nominations: July 1.
Polling: July 17.
Counting July 20. Polling from 10 am to 5 pm.
