Chandigarh : The Punjab Government has decided to establish 2 Ayush hospitals with a capacity of 50 beds each under the Ayush mission scheme.
Standardised health services of indoor and outdoor of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy would also be provided in these hospitals. Announcing this here on Wednesday, Health Minister Brahm Mohindra said the state government would soon initiate the construction of Ayush hospitals at a cost of Rs 12.5 crore. The minister said that with the tireless efforts of officials, the Punjab Government is all set to start thalassaemia treatment centre of ayuveda at Ludhiana and Rs 36 lakh had been sanctioned to establish the centre. He said it being the first-of-its-kind initiative, the treatment of thalassaemia would be provided to the patients at this centre. The minister observed that earlier the patients of thalassaemia had been going to the Gujarat for getting the treatment. In order to provide treatment services of thalassaemia in Punjab, a special training had been imparted to seven AMOs (Ayurveda Medical Officers) at Ahmedabad and now thalassaemia patients would soon be getting ayurvedic treatment at the Ludhiana Centre.
