Mining probe panel didn’t accept key evidence: AAP

Chandigarh : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today alleged that the Justice JS Narang (retd) Commission, which is probing the sand mining auction scam, refused to take on record the documents brought by party leaders to the commission office here. The AAP MLAs, led by Leader of the Opposition Sukhpal Singh Khaira, today called upon Justice Narang to submit the documents purportedly establishing Irrigation and Power Minister Rana Gurjit Singh’s role in the mining auction. After the meeting, Khaira said, “We were assured of a fair probe, but told that the documents could not be brought on record.” Khaira said the party would knock at the door of the Punjab and Haryana Court and the Supreme Court, if the probe was not conducted in a fair manner. Sources said the one-man commission that had been granted extension after the lapse of one-month deadline was nearing its probe. It has already questioned the employees of Gurjit Singh, who were awarded mining contracts worth crores despite having limited income. The minister has, however, claimed that their services were dispensed with even before the mining auctions were held.
