Punjab Congress halts rail traffic in the state for one hour

SIRHIND: The Punjab Congress President Mr Partap Singh Bajwa today thanked the party leaders and workers for the successful blockade of rail traffic in the state for one hour from 12.00 Noon to press for the demands of the farmers.He said the party had demanded compensation at the rate of Rs 25,000 per acre for the crop damage besides bonus of Rs 200 per quintal on wheat. He pointed out that Haryana had already started disbursing compensation but in Punjab, the farmers were not getting payment even for the wheat sold so far.He urged the Chief Minister Mr Parkash Singh Badal to sit in Delhi and return only after getting the demands of the farmers accepted by his own government led by Mr Narendra Modi. He lambasted the Chief Minister for having failed to come to the rescue of the farmers who were committing suicides.Mr Bajwa assured the farmers that the party would continue to fight for their demands.He led the rail blockade at Sirhind along with S. Kuljit Singh Nagra MLA & Secretary PPCC, S. Randeep Singh Nabha MLA, S. Harinder Singh Bhambari President DCC Fatehgarh Sahib, Sh. Harnek Singh Diwana, S. Rajinder Singh Bittu, S. Gursharan Bittu, Sh. Shiv Kumar, Sh. Gursatinder Jhalla, Sh. Amandeep Singh, Sh. Sanjeev Mopdgil, Sh. Anand Panesar, Sh. Amrik Mandher, Sh. Babbu Tiwana, Sh. Ramesh Kumar SOnu, Sh. Amarjit Dhillon, Sh. Shingara Singh, Sh. Bhupinder Badhoshi and hundreds of party workers.He said the Congress had also included the demand of registration of case under Section 304A against Deputy Chief Minister Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal for the death of young dalit girl Arshdeep Kaur in Moga district who was thrown out of a moving bus of Orbit transport.Mr Bajwa cited the example of Uphaar cinema fire in Delhi in which action was also taken against the owners who were convicted by the court for of duty. Similarly, Mr Sukhbir Badal was responsible for any incident involving his transport companies and the employees while on duty. He reiterated that Mr Sukhbir Badal, being the Orbit managing director, must be booked under the law of the land.He asked how come that the window panes of the bus were tainted and had curtains. Most of the Orbit buses had tainted glasses and violated the rules with impunity. Being the owner, it was Mr Sukhbir Badal who was responsible for ensuring that his fleet followed the law of the land and his being the Deputy Chief Minister did not provide immunity to him or his companies.
