Patiala : Congress leader Capt Amarinder Singh today continued his tirade against the Akali Dal during a rally as part of his mass contact programme here.
He warned Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal against pursuing “panthic” agenda. He said Badal was advancing towards a “divisive” agenda, but the move would further distance the SADfrom the BJP.
Amarinder took a dig at Badal for accusing him of trying to create a wedge between the Akali Dal and BJP. “Why are you feeling insecure and why should I create a wedge between Akalis and BJP?” he asked, but said: “The BJP will eventually part ways with the SAD.”
He said creating an atmosphere of fear and insecurity would only discourage the industry from investing in the state. Earlier, senior Congress leader Laal Singh said the Congress needed to be united to take on the Akalis. “The party will surely win the 2017 assembly elections under the leadership of Capt Amarinder,” he said.
Preneet Kaur and Randeep Nabha also addressed the rally. Others present on the occasion included Rana Gurjeet Singh, Hardayal Kambhoj, Sadhu Singh, Sukh Sarkaria, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Gurkirat Singh Kotli, Mohd Sadique, Karan Kaur Brar, Bir Devinder Singh, Milkiat Singh Dakha, Surjit Dhiman, Madan Lal Jalalpur and Nirmal Singh Shatrana.
SAD defends Badal
Patiala: In a statement issued here on Monday, Education Minister and SAD spokesman Daljit Singh Cheema took on Amarinder Singh for alleging that Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal was pursuing “Khalistani agenda”. “Captain had resigned in 1984 to protest Operation Bluestar. He is now trying to cover up the misdeeds of then Congress government to regain the lost position of PPCC president,” he alleged.
