Head of al-Qaeda’s Karachi network shot dead

Karachi, Aug 19 : The head of al-Qaeda’s Karachi network Abdul Ahad and his accomplice have been shot dead in a shootout with law enforcement personnel and intelligence agencies in Gulshan-i-Iqbal neighbourhood in Pakistan, said officials.According to the Dawn, an intelligence officer has also been killed in the shootout.The authorities claimed the killing of the two operatives as a major success.They said that they were present in Karachi for a “major activity” that could either be an attack on one of the “sensitive installations” or assassination of “key security officials”.
