Punjab Congress lambasts Harsimrat Badal for advising people to use Onion paste

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Congress today flayed the Union Food Processiing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal for advising the ‘poor’ peoPle of country to USE Onion paste during short supply of Onions. The Congress has asked for her resignation for helplessness to control the prices of Onions. Harsimrat Badal has asked people to make paste of onions and save it for a rainy days.Sukhpal Singh Khaira, former MLA and Congress spokesnan described the statement of Harsimrat Badal nothing but a cruel humiliating joke with the poor and display of feudal mindset. In a statement, Khaira said that this preposterous statement from Harsimrat Badal holding a responsible constitutional office not only reflects her feudal mindset, but is a cruel humiliating joke equal to rubbing salt on the wounds of poor
severely hit by inflation. He said that the prices of onions have sky rocketed to Rs. 60-70 per kg and are virtually out of the reach of a common man.The Minister instead of devising methods to control the prices of onions and contain inflation, has the audacity to chide and play with the sentiments of the poor. It appears the feudal Minister has never visited her own kitchen and knows nothing about running a house.Even if the poor are able to purchase bulk onions, a paste made from onions would need appropriate cold storage facilities, particularly during the summers as it is a perishable item. Would the Minister promise to provide one refrigerator each to the poor household across the country to store the paste? Does she know that a very vast majority of India lives under the Below Poverty Line (BPL), who cannot afford two square meals a day, leave aside owning a luxurious item like refrigerator?
