Punjab BJP president in trouble, aide arrested for helping drug smugglers

CHANDIGARH: In a fresh trouble for the Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma, Punjab Police has arrested Jaspal Singh alias Jimmy Sandhu former Personal Assistant of BJP President in the charge of accepting bribe to facilitate release of drug smugglers. He is also accused of accepting Rs.15 lakh from an employee in the office of Depty Commissioner Ferozepur to save him in a case of illegal weapons registration case.Kamal Sharma had removed Jummy Sandhu from his post after the matter was highlighted in the media. Sharma also claimed that he was not involved in the case. Jimmy was right hand man of Kamal Sharma and he was dealing with the officers in Punjab government on behalf of BJP President. Jimmy was also made President of Ferozepur unit of BJP Yuva Morcha.Jimmy had accepted Rs.10 lakhs from a Amritpal Singh and his wife arrested for drug smuggling. He paid Rs.five lakh to Gurcharan Singh another close confident of Kamal Sharma who passed on Rs.4 lakhs of the bribe money to a DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon. While Gurcharan Singh has been asked to join investigation Sekhon is absconding. Gurcharan Singh is BJP block president of Mallawala appointed by Kamal Sharma. Sekhon who went on leave didnt return to join duty.The police has asked the BJP district Ferozepur president Jugraj Singh has also been named in the FIR and summoned to join the investigation. He is also close confident of Kamal Sharma.Jimmy accepted Rs.10 lakh bribe from Manoj Kumar clerk in arms branch in DC office. The accused clerl involved in issuing fake arms licences was also arrested.
