Youth who killed girl in one sided affair,gets life in jail

SAS NAGAR : Gurmeent Singh, the ‘jilted’ lover who shot a 22-year-old girl, Amandeep Kaur to death was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Mohali court.Three-year jail to his cousin and co-accused Angrez Singh.Wrapping up the murder trial in eight months, the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal here held the prime accused, Gora, guilty and pronounced the life term along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh to him while Angrez Singh was awarded a three-year jail term along with a fine of Rs 5,000.Angrez (26), a resident of Mamdot village in Ferozepur, was booked in the case as his licensed .32 bore revolver was used by Gurmeet in the crime. It was learnt by the police that Gurmeet had taken the weapon from his house in his absence. The accused said he used to put the weapon in his bed’s drawer and Gurmeet was aware of it.Notably, Gurmeet, the jilted lover, had shot 22-year-old Amandeep Kaur dead by pumping three bullets into her body from point-blank range on January 12 at a market in Phase V and fled the spot.He was arrested on January 16. Angrez, a Class VIII pass-out and a farmer by profession, had got his firearm licence five years ago. Gurmeet and Angrez were booked by the Mohali police under Section 302, IPC, and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act at the Phase I Police Station.
