Afghanistan Parliament attacked: 6 killed, 21 injured in Taliban attack

Kabul/ London, June 22: At least six people have been killed in a series of three explosions that rocked the Afghanistan Parliament in Kabul today. According to local news channels, 21 civilians including five women and three children were injured in Parliament attack. The attack took place as the new Defence Minister Massoom Stanekzai was being introduced to MPs. Taliban has reportedly claimed responsibility of the attack. Indian ambassador to Afghanistan, Amar Sinha confirmed that all Indians living in the country are safe.The meeting of lawmakers was under-way in the Parliament when the terrorist attacked the building. Lawmakers were seen rushing out of the building amid smoke. The rescue operation is still under-way. The gunmen who attacked the parliament failed to enter the building due to heavy security.
The Kabul city has been on target of Taliban since a year. The capital city of Afghanistan could not stabilized itself since a U.S.-led war ousted the hardline Islamist Taliban regime in 2001.
