After Permanent Release, Bhai Hardeep Singh Appreciates Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa’s Struggle

AMRITSAR SAHIB : Political prisoner Bhai Hardeep Singh was permanently released from Amritsar jail on January 7. He had been languishing in the jail since his arrest in 1993 in relation to TADA charges and section 302 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. He was sentenced to life in 1997 in a case of murder that took place in 1991. Charges of TADA were later absolved by the Court.Confirming the development, superintendent of Amritsar Central Jail, R.K. Sharma told Sikh24 that Bhai Hardeep Singh has been granted premature release by the Punjab Government due to his good conduct. He informed that the orders of premature release of Bhai Hardeep Singh had reached the Jail authorities some days ago.Following his release, Bhai Hardeep Singh expressed appreciation for Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who has been struggling for the past 1 year for the release of political prisoners who have not been released despite completion of their sentences.He expressed hope for the release of other prisoners also.
