AMRITSAR SAHIB : Following stiff opposition, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has reportedly lifted the ban on the entry of journalists to its head-quarters at Teja Singh Samundri Hall. The warning notice refusing entry has reportedly been removed. Taking a u-turn on the matter, the SGPC authorities clarified that there is no restriction on journalists from entering the head-quarters.The journalists say that the SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar has maintained good relations with them and they have never been dealt with in this manner before. The additional secretary Diljit Singh Bedi maintained that Makkar did not impose any ban on them.Speculations have been circling that the newly appointed chief secretary Harcharan Singh had issued this order using the name of the president.Meanwhile, Sikh leaders have been musing that the chief secretary wants to convert the apex body of Sikhs into a corporate company.
