Albie comes in rescue of under-fire Morne, De Villiers

Johannesburg : South African all-rounder Albie Morkel has brushed off the criticism aimed at his brother Morne Morkel and skipper AB de Villiers, saying their records speaks for themselves.South Africa’s shocking elimination at the hands of hosts West Indies from the recently-concluded Caribbean tri-series invited a flurry of criticism from media, with experienced player Morne and swashbuckling batsman de Villiers being blamed for the loss.Describing the criticism levied against them as `unfair`, Albie believes the entire team should be held responsible for the defeat rather than pointing out at an individual, Sport24 reported.The 35-year-old said that De Villiers’s record clearly depicts how capable he is to inspire the team and lead the team from the front.However, both Morkel and De Villiers were below par in the triangular series, with the skipper averaging just 24.20 while the fast bowler ending with the figures of 1-68 in the nine expensive overs he bowled only against the Windies on Friday .Albie, who said there were some really good individual performances in the Caribbean tri-series, believes the overall team effort was not good enough.
