ALITMODIGATE NOW HITS RAJASTHAN CHIEF MINISTER VASUNDHRA RAJE

New Delhi, June 16: As Finance Minister Arun Jaitley landed in support of his colleague in trouble External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and the Congress demanded Supreme Court monitored SIT probe, the Lalit Modi controversy today further snowballed engulfing Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhra Raje too.
According to the information that surfaced today, Raje had in August 2011 backed former IPL chief’s UK immigration application on the condition that her support would not be made known to Indian authorities. This revelation has been made in the documents that were revealed by Modi’s lawyer. This particular document is unsigned.
Meanwhile, Jaitley who came out in support of Swaraj, said, “Sushma Swaraj acted with good intentions and in good faith. The entire government and the party are one on the matter and there should be no room for any doubt. All allegations are baseless.”
On the other hand, while the Congress accused the Modi government of protecting Lalit Modi and demanded that Supreme Court should set up a special investigation team to probe the issue, the BJP retaliated saying the opposition party was “frustrated” and had shown its “complete bankruptcy” by using a “non-issue” to target Sushma Swaraj.
Addressing a press conference, Congress leader Anand Sharma said, “The ministers in the Modi government are hiding facts and they all are protecting a wanted offender”.
He also questioned silence of the Prime Minister and the decision of the government not to appeal against the Delhi High Court verdict in the Lalit Modi passport case.
