Amritsar Court issues summon to Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal

AMRITSAR : Local court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Gurpartap Singh under Sections 499, 500 and 501 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code has issued summons to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal here today. The local court has issued summon to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Kejriwal, journalist turned politician Ashish Khetan and party’s Punjab affairs incharge Sanjay Singh. It may be mentioned here that earlier on May 20th this year Punjab Revenue Minister Bikram Singh Majithia had filed a criminal defamation case against Delhi Chief Minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal, his close aide and party think tank Ashish Khetan and party’s Punjab affairs incharge Sanjay Singh in a local court here.Majithia himself while appearing in person had filed the case in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Gurpartap Singh under Sections 499, 500 and 501 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code. Majithia, in his complaint had submitted before the court, claiming that the AAP was bent upon tarnishing his image, along with that of his family, without having any basis and had been hurling baseless allegations against him.It was the second case, Majithia had filed against AAP leaders, but it is for the first time that he has filed a defamation suit against Kejriwal. The earlier defamation case was filed against Sanjay Singh in a Ludhiana court on January 12, 2015, for accusing Majithia of patronising the drug mafia and for claiming to “put him behind bars” in case the AAP was voted to power in 2017. The case is in the court and Sanjay Singh was granted bail.Majithia had sought strict punishment for the AAP leaders.
