Arunachal Pradesh missing chopper spotted; Rescue operations launched

Guwahati, August 4: A helicopter of the state run Pawan Hans service, that was declared missing at around 10 am on Tuesday morning, has been reportedly sighted and a rescue operation has been launched, according to a news flash by the Press Trust of India.News reports had earlier announced that the Air Force had launched an aerial search for the helicopter which had three people, including a senior IAS officer on board it. Kamlesh Joshi, the DC of the Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh, was travelling to Lumdig (Assam) from Khonsa in Arunachal Pradesh. The helicopter had lost all contact early in the morning while flying over Deomali which is a remote area in Arunachal pradesh and a militant stronghold. In 2011, the then Chief Minister of the state, had been killed along with four others after the Pawan Hans helicopter in which he was travelling, crashed near India-China border.
