Arvind Kejriwal to visit Golden Temple Amritsar and Kotkapura tomorrow

CHANDIGARH: Arvind Kejriwal Chief Minister of Punjab would visit Golden Temple Amritsar on October 24 where he would perform prayers for peace and harmony in Punjab. Later in the day he will visit Bargadi village and Kotkapura in Faridkot district to meet the families of victims of police firing.
The visit of Arvind Kejriwal is significant at this juncture when Punjab is passing through political vaccume and people of state are looking for a viable alternative to replace the traditional parties like SAD,BJP and Congress. Punjab has in the last parliament elections shown inclination towards AAP giving four seats to them. Kejriwal would express his sympathy with the families of two Sikh youth killed in police firing in Kotkapura. He would also interact with the common people and will know their views on current situation in Punjab. The AAP leadership is deeply concerned about Punjab where Sikhs are holding protest marches and blocking traffic for the last over 10 days.AAP leaders yesterday met the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in Delhi and demanded from him immediate intervetion. The party has expressed serios concern over atrocities on people, drug menace and corruption in the state. The ruling Shiromani Akali Dal is trying to polarise Sikh population to consolidate their votes at one place so that Sikhs refrain from voting Aam Aadmi Party in the 2017 assembly elections. The political leadership of SAD and Police seems working on this front not to let the protests lingeron. The incidents of steraling Bir of Guru Granth Sahib, toring pages of holy scripture and unprovoked firing, suspension of Punj Payaras and secretaries who refgused to suspend Punjab Payaras by SGPC are some indicators which show the strategic involvement of ruling SAD in the present crisis.
As far as AAP is concerned, the party is in constant touch with the masses and its Pind Joro campaign recently had given long footage to the party. SAD leadership is extremely worried over the rising popularity graph of AAP in Punjab.
