Galle, Aug 12: Off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin produced a stellar performance on Wednesday as Sri Lanka were bowled out for 183 on the opening day of the first Test of the three-match series against India at Galle.Opting to bat first, the hosts stuttered from the start of their innings and were reeling at 60-5 in the 21.3 over. Ashwin turned out be the destroyer-in-chief of Sri Lanka as he exposed opponents’ batting frailties by returning figures of 6-46.Angelo Mathews (64) and Dinesh Chandimal (59) tried to provide stiff resistance by sharing a 79-run partnership for the sixth wicket before tail-enders fell cheaply without any significant contribution.Retiring Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara also fell cheaply for mere five runs in his penultimate Test match of his career.Amit Mishra claimed two wickets, while Ishant Sharma and Varun Aaron took one wicket each.
