New Delhi, November 13 : India on Monday asked Pakistan to end its ‘illegal and forcible’ occupation of PoK. The Permanent Mission of India to UN in Geneva submitted its recommendations to the Universal Periodic Review Working Group. Delivering the statement at the 28th working group session, First Secretary in the Mission Sumit Seth urged the Pakistan government “to stop targeting political dissidents and legitimate criticism in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa” as well as “to stop torture, enforced disappearances and unlawful killing, including that of journalists and activists, by its security agencies and prosecute perpetrators”.
This was the 3rd Universal Periodic Review of Pakistan in which India also hit out at state sponsored terrorism by Pakistan. The Indian recommendations included: “To dismantle special terrorist zones, safe havens and sanctuaries and take verifiable actions, including on terror financing”.
