Aussie coach Lehmann eyes Ashes 2019 swansong

Sydney : Australian coach Darren Lehmann, who recently returned to the squad after recovering from deep vein thrombosis, has admitted that he cannot see himself coaching the country beyond the 2019 Ashes in England.Describing the Ashes series as an ‘unfinished business’, Lehmann also admitted that defending the World Cup in England in 2019 remains on the agenda.The 45-year-old, who took over as coach from Mickey Arthur in 2013, insisted that his job was quite tiring as he spent about 300 days a year away from home.Lehmann believes that four to six years was the shelf life for someone performing his role, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.Lehmann, who is contracted until June 2017 with Cricket Australia, admitted that he still loves his current job, but added that there was a need for change.The 45-year-old, who suffered a swollen left calf in the fifth ODI against India, was ruled out of the recently-concluded three-match ODI series against New Zealand before returning back to the national squad for the Test series.Australia have currently taken an unassailable 1-0 lead in the two-match series against New Zealand following an innings and 52-run win in the opening match.
