Baisakhi observed in Golden Temple with great fervour

AMRITSAR : A sea of crowd of devotees, from home and abroad paid obeisance in the sanctum sanctorum of Golden Temple the holiest Sikh shrine on the eve of Baisakhi festival here today.
The significance of this festival in Sikh religion as per the Sikh history the 10th Sikh master, Guru Gobind Singh, established the Khalsa Panth or Sikh order on Baisakhi Day (April 13, 1699). However, every year this religious occasion being observed to observe anniversary of the formation of the Khalsa Panth.
At various locations in the city, in devotion and love inhabitants served free food and drinking water to devotees going to pay obeisance to Golden Temple at all the roads approaching to Golden Temple from main entrance of the national highway (Grand Trunk Road). Sikh devotees along with their family members took holy dip in the Sarovar (holy water pond) carrying religious belief in their mind that this exercise purifies ones heart, mind and inner soul of human being, said SGPC public Relation official.Devotees started to throng Golden temple since yesterday evening, spent night in the marbled periphery of the Golden Temple around the water pond.District Administration and SGPC officials jointly had made elaborate security arrangement besides heavy deployment of police and task force for the smooth running of vehicular traffic. But inspite of all arrangements today there was bottle neck traffic was reported.On this religious occasion devotees offered prayer for the fulfillment of their desires and issueless couple also prayed here for male issue.After Ardas (prayer as per Sikh rituals) and distribution of Karah Parshad (sweet pudding), Langar (community kitchen) was served. The distribution of food remained continue throughout day the night.
