BCCI to take final call on DDCA on Feb. 8

New Delhi : The BCCI on Friday said that it would take the final call on the Delhi District and Cricket Association (DDCA) hosting the ICC World Twenty20 matches on February 8.”We discussed that in the recently held ICC meeting in Dubai. And we have decided that 30 days prior to the World Cup, which is on February 8, we will be taking a final call on the DDCA.And the sale of tickets will take place on February 9,” BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur told the media here.The DDCA, which has been facing allegations of several financial irregularities, received the No Objection Certificate ( NOC) from the Central Government to host the World T20 in Delhi.Expressing his views on the implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations, Thakur insisted that the BCCI was not running away from the report and was taking steps in right direction as it believes in transparency and accountability.”The BCCI is not looking for any escape. We believe in transparency and accountability and in the last nine months we have proven that the steps BCCI has taken are in the right direction. The certain changes we have brought in have been applauded by everyone. Justice Lodha has recommended many things. We have requested the state cricket association to look into that,” the 41-year-old said.Thakur, however, admitted that the recommendations would have a lot of impact on the functioning of the BCCI.”Committee has taken close to a 12-month time to come out with a report. We are taking close to two months to discuss debate and after deliberations come to consensus to implement that report. We are not slow. I have written a letter to the state association to call their meetings. Many states have already held their managing committee or the working committee meetings. So, it is a due process what we have adopted. We are not slow at all and we are not shying away. We are not opting for any escape route,” Thakur added.Earlier on Thursday, the Supreme Court sought a reply from the BCCI on the implementation of the Lodha Committee recommendations.
