Bhai Khosa, 12 Other Singhs Sent to Judicial Remand till August 8

LUDHIANA, July 21 : Bhai Sukhjit Singh Khosa, Bhai Bagicha Singh Rattakhera and 11 other Singhs who were arrested by the Police for supporting Sikh crusader Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa, were produced today in the Court of Harpreet Singh, judicial magistrate Ludhiana. The Police registered case (FIR No. 222) dated on Monday (July 20, 2015) against them under sections 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) and 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
During their production, Police of Dakha Police station Police sought their 4-days Police remand but after the arguments raised by the defence counsel, the magistrate dismissed the application of the Police for remand. The court sent all 13 Singhs to judicial custody at Central Jail, Ludhiana till August 4, reported noted human rights activist Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur.Advocate Rajbir Singh Dhanda represents Bhai Babu Singh, whereas Advocate Manjhpur represents rest of Singhs.
Yesterday, the Police stormed home of Bapu Surat Singh Khalsa who is on hunger strike since January 16 for release of Sikh political prisoners languishing in various jails of Punjab and other states. The Singhs who accompanied Bapu Surat Singh were arrested by the Police by inhuman way. The Police also went for lathicharge on Singhs including women and journalists. The Police also arrested Singhs from other places of the State.
