Janata Parivar, a new political outfit, came into existence in India after six socialist parties – Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party (SP), Lalu Prasad Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Sharad Yadav’s Janata Dal United (JDU) and Deve Gowda’s Janata Dal (Secular) – merging together. However Mulayam Singh Yadav’s SP walked out of the grand alliance. According to Janata Parivar pact, JD-U and RJD will contest on 100 seats each while the Congress will fight on 40 constituencies. Asaduddin Owaisi’s All India Majlis-e-Itttehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) will contest on 25 seats in Bihar.
