Bikram Singh Majithia files defamation case against The Tribune

AMRITSAR: Bikram Singh Majithia Pujab revenue minister who is in the eye of storm due to alleged involvment in drug racket and money laundering has today filed defamation case under sector 500 IPC against the leading English newspaper The Tribune, its Editor-in-Chief Raj Changappa and a reporter for naming him(Majithia) as an accused in the money laundering case.In his petition filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Parminder Singh Rai, the revenue minister has said that he was already given clean chit by the Enforcement Directorate in the money laundering racket and he has not even visited Canada after 2001 where the newspaper has claimed he had nexus with the drug smugglers. Majithia said that an attempt was made to tarnish his image in the eye of public. He clained that a sustained campaign is being run against him by the newspaper.The court has fixed May 21 as next date of hearing.
