GURDASPUR : Even as the BJP state leadership is mum, local leaders are demanding that Gurdaspur Assembly seat, which had been given to the SAD under seat-sharing formula between the alliance partners, should be handed back to the party as after delimitation not only the profile of the constituency had been changed, but majority of voters in the constituency were Hindus. The seat belongs to the SAD under the seat-sharing formula and SAD MLA cum CPS Gurbanchan Singh Babehali is tipped to be the party candidate for the upcoming Assembly elections who wons two conservative terms with large no of Votes. Gurdaspur BJP Newly elected president Ashok Vaid said on friday after delimitation the number of Hindu votes had risen by 80 per cent and about half of the panchayats of 160 villages under it were ruled by BJP supporters. The issue was brought to the notice of High command , prabhat jha, incharge of Punjab BJP affairs, BJP former npresident of Punjab Kamal Sharma, BJP Punjab president and cabinet minister Vijay Sampla who promised that the party would take up the issue with Deputy CM Sukhbir Badal. Vaid said a delegation, led by senior party leader from Gurdaspur Rakesh Jyoti, Rajinder Bitta, former president of Gurdaspur Ramesh Sharma, sec of BJP Punjab Veeranvali and other senor leaders. Similarly, Punjab BJP working committee member Balkrishan Mittal and Gurdaspur MC president Santosh Riar also demanded that the party high command prevail upon the SAD to give the constituency to BJP, he said. BJP president Ashok Vaid raise allegedly allegation on local mla that he had lost the public support, and never obey the order of BJP high command. Vaid said that how could we insist people to deliver their votes to that man who does not respect the alliance partner BJP. How we appeal our supporters to vote for that man. That’s why we demand MLA seat for BJP under seat sharing formula. When contacted punjab BJP President Vijay Sampla and incharge of BJP Punjab affairs Parkash Jha they were not available for comments. But when contacted Harcharan Bains advisor of national affairs of Chief Minister of Punjab said that the decision will be taken only by both party high commands, Bains said that BJP Akali alliance will jointly taken decision which would be acceptable to all the workers or leaders. Now its too much early to say something he added.
