CHANDIGARH: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today demanded grounding of all the buses owned by Akali leaders including the Badals. He also called for rigorous tests of the drivers driving these buses to check as why they were causing so many fatal accidents so frequently, before they can again be allowed to take to the wheels.Reacting to yet another fatal accident, in which a ten year old girl was killed, caused by a bus owned by the same Akali leader whose bus mowed down a 14 year old girl only a few days ago, Capt Amarinder said, “as an immediate step all the buses must be grounded and checked and the drivers subjected to rigorous medical tests to find out why only they were responsible for so many accidents”.The former Chief Minister observed that the drivers operating the buses owned by the Akali leaders including the Badals were law unto themselves. “They don’t give a damn to anyone including the police or the transport officials”, he pointed out, while adding, “nobody dares to check their documents whether they have valid driving licences, whether they are visually, mentally and physically fit to drive and how many of them are under the influence of alcohol and drugs while driving”.
