LUDHIANA : Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh today demanded imposition of President’s rule in Punjab saying that the law and order situation was totally out of control with anarchy prevailing all over. “Given the anarchy let loose everywhere, Punjab is a fit case for President’s rule to restore confidence of people”, he said, while referring to the attack on Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale and the killing of Mata Chand Kaur, besides other serious incidents of violence taking place all over Punjab every day.
Talking to reporters after paying tributes to Sant Bhupinder Singh here today, Capt Amarinder said, there was an atmosphere of fear and anarchy prevailing in the state and the Badals were directly responsible for it.
Sant Bhupinder Singh was killed on May 17 during the murderous attack on Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwale in Ludhiana.
To another question, he hailed the ardasia who refused to offer siropa to Mr Badal, saying it was the expression of widespread anger prevailing among the people against him (Mr Badal).
“Obviously the sewadar was right as the person responsible for the sacrilege of holy Guru Granth Sahab does not deserve a siropa”, he said while adding, “if Mr Badal still retains some grace he should not allow the persecution of the ardasia”.
The PCC president met the family members of the slain saint. While he supported the family’s demand for the CBI probe into the murder, Capt Amarinder assured them that once the Congress forms the government in the state, all the culprits will be brought to the book.
Replying to another question, the former Chief Minister said, Parkash Singh Badal was directly shielding the culprits.
Sharing the grief with Bibi Kulwant Kaur, the wife of the late Sant, and two young sons Harman 8 years and Gurman 6 years, he said, he will ensure that the family got justice.
The family members expressed gratitude to Capt Amarinder for personally visiting them to condole the death. They said, no prominent political leader from any party had bothered to visit them and pay condolences.
