Capt Amarinder postpones his proposed anti-drug rally at Majitha

AMRITSAR : After the Udta Punjab movie got a clearance from the courts and movie was released in normal course today, the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Capt Amarinder Singh will still hold a rally against the peddling and supply of drugs at Majitha on a later date. Disclosing this here today, Capt Amarinder said, although the people of Punjab will get to see the movie, the issue of drugs still needs to be highlighted. “Since I have already announced to hold a dharna there, I will hold it on a later date”, he said, while adding, “our fight against drugs does not merely end with the release of the movie as we have to completely finish this curse from Punjab”. The Punjab Congress president congratulated the makers of the movie for holding their ground and strongly resisting the pressure to dilute its theme. “I hope the movie not only helps in highlighting a serious problem that has finished almost a generation of our youth, but also creates awareness about the disastrous and devastating effect of the drugs”, he said.
