Channi condemns attacks on the peacefully agitating jewelers by Punjab police

CHANDIGARH : Charanjit Singh Channi, congress legislature party leader, today condemned the attack by the Punjab police on peaceful protesting jewelers in Ludhiana, Amritsar and other parts of Punjab.Channi while supporting the cause for the jewelers said that the union government should immediately roll back the 1% excise duty and scrap the clause for PAN card on the sale of jewellery above 2 Lac. Many peaceful demonstrators of the Jewellers associations were injured at many places in Punjab today when they were brutally lathi charged by the Punjab police.Channi while lambasting on the S Parkash Singh Badal, Chief minister of Punjab said that now the Akalis have their coalition government in the centre also they should seriously take the issues of the jewelers with the union government instead of just brow beating them on the roads.
