Chhattisgarh govt. to release Rs. 134.60 cr for drought-hit farmers

Raipur, Dec. 13 : The Chhattisgarh Government has decided to release more than Rs. 134 crores as compensation for the drought affected farmers in the state. Barring Balodabazar and Sarguja districts, farmers from the remaining 25 drought-hit districts will be given compensation for the loss of crop. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh has directed all District Collectors to ensure timely distribution of relief and compensation to the drought-affected farmers. Following the announcement made by the Chief Minister, state government has released more than Rs. 134 crore as compensation. Priority will be given to the farmers who have suffered crop loss between 67 and 100 per cent. Directions have also been given by the government to set up ‘Kisaan Mitaan’ centers for giving necessary counselling to farmers in distress. This facility will be available on toll-free numbers.
