Cop among 4 killed in Tarn Taran road mishap

Tarn Taran : An ASI was among four persons killed in a head-on collision between two private buses near Sarhali village today. In all, 19 persons were injured.
The deceased have been identified as ASI Rachhpal Singh of Tarn Taran, Jagjit Singh of Bathinda, Jagdeep Singh of Faridkot and Rama of Zira. Jagjit died on the spot, while others succumbed to injuries in hospital.
The buses belonged to Libra and Raj companies. The Libra bus was going to Tarn Taran from Harike when the accident took place.
Sarhali police station SHO Tarsem Masih said a case under Sections 304-A, 279, 337, 338 and 427 of the IPC had been registered against the Raj bus driver. He fled the spot after the accident. Residents of nearby villages admitted the injured to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Sarhali. As the CHC was not equipped to handle a rush of patients, some of them were referred to other hospitals. Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal and SSP Darshan Singh Mann visited the accident spot.
