AMRITSAR : Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal reached Golden Temple amidst tight security here today early in the morning to seek apology from Almighty.
Kejriwal who had arrived in the city last night, today morning after cleaning utensils in the community kitchen for 45 minutes, he went to sanctum sanctorum, paid obeisance.
He sit half an hour on the marbled floor to listen religious hymns outside the sanctum sanctorum.
Talking to media just for few seconds, said, “I had come here for Sewa (voluntary religious service) to apologize if we have knowingly or unknowingly committed any mistake in our youth manifesto. I listen Shabada Kirtan here that gave me immense pleasure, now feels peace of mind”.
AAP party hit the headlines of section of media after the release of Youth manifesto, since the front cover page of the manifesto booklet was carrying broom along with the picture of Golden Temple which irked the various Sikh religious and political outfits who demanded apology from Kejriwal. Moreover AAP leader Ashish Khaitan had added more controversy when he had compared the party manifesto with the holy book of Sikhs – Guru Granth Sahib.
Kejriwal had earlier hit out at the ruling SAD-BJP combine, alleging they were feeling “jittery” as a reason conspiracy was hatched to defame the party with the fear that as AAP could sweep the 2017 Punjab assembly polls.
Kejriwal during his visit to Golden Temple was accompanied by AAP Punjab convener Sucha Singh Chhotepur, youth leader Harjot Bains, MPs Bhagwant Mann and Sadhu Singh, singer Gurpreet Ghuggi, Delhi MLA Jarnail Singh, MP Bhagwant Mann actor Gul Panag and advocate HS Phoolka. AAP spokesperson Ashish Khetan, who was booked under Section 295-A (for hurting religious sentiments) by the Amritsar police was also with the Kejriwal.
