Faridkot : An incident of firing at a follower of Dera Sacha Sauda in Burj Jawahar Singh Wala village in the district on Monday morning has led to tension in the area.
The Dera follower, who was seriously injured, was shifted to Ludhiana. Heavy police force was deployed subsequently in the village.
A number of Dera followers of the area have started assembling in the village. The Dera follower was attacked by two persons in a car about 5.30 am as he was opening his shop in the village. He was hit by multiple shots and the doctors at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, referred him to DMC, Ludhiana.Burj Jawahar Singh Wala is the village from where a ‘bir’ of Guru Granth Sahib was stolen from a gurdwara on June 1, 2015. The theft of this ‘bir’ was followed by similar incidents and had kept Punjab on the boil for more than a month last year.For the past seven months, the CBI has been investigating the theft case, but has failed to make headway in the sensitive matter.
