Fake Encounters: No Investigations Despite Huge Claims by Former Cop

Amritsa : Despite the huge claims made by former cop Gurmeet Pinky, the Government is yet to announce any investigations. Gurmeet Pinky has taken names of various senior Punjab police officials, including Sumedh Saini and KP Gill in cold blooded murders of Sikhs in the 1990s.
AISSF President Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad has sought the appointment of a commission to probe the cases of fake encounters committed by Punjab police during the Police brutality period of the 80s and 90s. Karnail Singh has also appealed to political parties Akali-BJP, Congress and Aam Admi Party to include this in their election manifesto for upcoming assembly elections of 2017.Karnail Singh stated that the Shiromani Akali Dal had promised a commission in its election manifesto of 1997 but the Badal led Akali Dal didn’t keep its promise, despite getting into office thrice since.He added that records collected by S. Jaswant Singh Khalra about fake encounters of Sikh youth has been approved by government. He asserted that his party would apprise the Human Rights Commission of United Nation about the fake encounters committed by Punjab police during the crackdown on Sikh youth after the 1984 government attacks on the Harmandar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar.
